Hallway Shoe Cabinet
SDC-82
Now located off the King’s Road in Chelsea, this shoe cabinet in Oak and blue dyed Tabu veneer was designed with subtle references to the art deco mansion block that the clients live in - the stepped profile of the top, shelf and handles echo architectural features of the building, while the bookmatched Oak panels on the doors are evocative of the veneers so often used on high quality art deco furniture. The overall tone of the piece is supported by the use of prime-grade quartersawn Oak for the top, upper shelf and sides, complemented by the high quality bookmatched Oak veneer for the 4 doors.
From a functional perspective, the client wanted to minimise the amount of space occupied by the piece in the entranceway, so the 10 shelves allow for shoes to be placed in line with the wall rather than perpendicular to it. The upper shelf allows for storage of keys and similar items.
